Now that I've wrapped up 12 Meals in 12 Months: 2012, I would like to keep up the personal challenge of trying to cook more at home. Meal planning and the actual act of preparing home made meals doesn't come naturally or easily to me, but I really wish it did! I am happy to report that Matt and I do in fact eat most of our dinners together at the dining room table, even if those meals are 85% take out.
I'm a big supporter of the whole eating together at the dining room table. I think it's so important to share dinner as a family! One of my fondest childhood memories is the simple tradition my family kept of doing that exact thing. I'm really grateful that I've been able to continue this tradition with my husband and have every intention of keeping this up with our expanding family on the way - granted babies don't really partake in family dinners, but when babies get older, family dinners are on!
In 2013, I'm veering away from only making new-to-me meals to making 20 one pot meals. When I say pot I mean dish, pan, basically any cooking receptacle. I'm not going to be bogged down by exact rules because the point is to produce more home cooked meals. I do seem to favor making one pot meals (maybe for the simplicity?) so I'm going to embrace one pot/pan/dish meals to the fullest and make TWENTY of them in 2013. I'm thinking soups, stews, casseroles, maybe some one skillet meals - the possibilities are to be explored!
I'm really looking forward to your one-pot meals. It's such a great idea! I've fallen off the menu planning bandwagon and really need to get back on - it makes life so much easier, and I agree: family dinners are the best!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE one pot meals! As much as I love being in the kitchen, I really enjoy simple recipes the most. Clean up isn't too bad either for the one pot recipes!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for one pot meals too! I hope you share your recipes, because I need ideas! : )
