What’s your favorite Christmas music? I’m kinda a Wham! gal… (that sounds wrong), but seriously I love me some George Michael and Wham! tunes. Blame it on my 1980s upbringing…or just blame it on me being incredibly dorky from time to time.

Alrighty, while you listen I wanted to share some of our Christmas décor. Namely our tree and a couple Christmassy additions here and there… And as you’ll see I seem to have leaned, once again, toward some more mercury glass, burlap (surprised?), glass, pops of red, and gold and silver.
This is Matt and I’s very first Christmas together as a married couple, and it’s also our first Christmas that I’ve had the pleasure of decorating for. I’ll have you know that I didn’t purposely shop for mercury glass, burlap, gold, and silver – the stuff just draws me in like a moth to a flame. Luckily it all goes together, or so I think.
I didn’t come across any tree skirts that just wowed me, so I improvised. Three yards of burlap from ole Hobby Lobby did the trick just perfectly. No sew, no fuss, can’t get cheaper than that! ($4 and some change with a 40% off coupon!)
My friend Michele has given me an ornament every year for the past several years – this is one of my favorites! Tulips are one of my very favorite flowers (I adore hydrangeas these days as well).
What’s Christmas without a splash of red? Don’t you love that little knit Christmas tree ornament? I picked it up last week and I bought two more to attach to the gifts I’ll be giving two of my very best friends: Kathy and Michele. The three of us have been exchanging gifts for the past 10 years or so… love them both!

How are your Christmas decorations coming along? I’d love to see!

ReplyDeleteas for your tree...i absolutely adore it! the burlap tree skirt is a genius idea!
Love the mercury glass decorations and also love Wham! too.... looking very festive around your home!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I've had that Wham song stuck in my head all day!
ReplyDeleteI love your little tree wrapped in burlap. And where did you find brown craft paper for present-wrapping? I wanted to do the same thing - twine and all - but short of collecting grocery bags (we use totes when we shop) I can't locate the stuff!
Beautiful! Everything looks so warm and inviting! I love it!
ReplyDeleteMelissa! That song is my favourite too! I wanted to decorate for the christmas this weekend but we couldnt even find a tree for us. hopefully soon!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love your red and white wrapping paper, too. I just ran out of my last holiday roll, so maybe I can find some like that for the remaining gifts!
ReplyDeleteOooo, I am loving the burlap tree skirt! I am such a fan of organic elements mixed with something fancy like a well-decorated tree. Great idea! I may borrow this idea for next year's tree. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love your ornaments and the burlap tree skirt - such a great idea. We won't be able to decorate this year with our house torn apart, but you better believe I will next year!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely! You did a wonderful job decorating the house Melissa. I'd have to say that my husband did most of the decorating this year. I think I'm feeling a little homesick because I haven't really felt the Christmas spirit this time.
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm with you about the kitchen oven. It's actually an English kitchen made by an Italian company. It's just gorgeous, but 3400 euros too gorgeous! I can dream :-)).
Have a wonderful day!
