So it's Monday again, and being the perpetual procrastinator I have to rush around this week in order to get my Halloween costume together. This year I decided to make my costume, mostly because I'm a procrastinator and never went out to buy one. This could be a disaster, this home made costume making business.
Do you all get into Halloween?
Whatever! Yes we do!!!
This will be Matt and I's third Halloween party together. We have so much fun dressing up with so many of our friends. Who says costumes are just for kids? Not us!
Would you like to see our costumes from previous years? Well alrighty then, here you go:
last year's costumes
Matt bought his costume last minute and had to wear a fat suit under his XXL costume
our very first Halloween together
I love looking back at older pictures - reminds me of how giddy we were in the beginning
this was when I'd first moved back to Oklahoma
I had decided that very day to go out for Halloween with a couple friends (I hadn't met Matt yet)
this "artist" costume was what I came up with in a couple hours
HA HA HA!
I can't believe I'm showing you this photo, but it seriously makes me laugh (and laugh and laugh and laugh) This was back in San Diego with my two very favorite co-workers and friends...
(recognize Marie on the left? We went to Montana for her wedding).
They insisted we all wear wigs and I refused to wear a crazy colored wig for some reason. So they bought me a wig that was my same hair color and cut in bangs. It was awful and awesome all in one. This is the least embarrassing photo of the bunch (and the least inappropriate) which I realize isn't saying much. Funny thing is that none of us work there or even live in California anymore. It's strange how drastically life changes. I miss both of these ladies a ton.
San Diego, 2006
I actually liked my Minnie Mouse costume a lot - even if it was, maybe, a bit saccharine.
I built this costume around the Minnie Mouse ears because I already had them for some odd reason. This was another last minute costume idea... (Seeing a theme of last minute costume ideas?)
I blotted out the other two girls' faces because I haven't talked to them in years and don't know how they'd feel about being pictured here.
Thanks for strolling down Halloween-Costume-Memory-Lane with me. ;)
Are you dressing up this year? Are you going with store bought or are you a handmade creative type? Do you plan out your costumes way in advance or are you last minute decider like yours truly?

Still undecided on whether I will dress up for Halloween this year. I used to have a blast dressing up before I was married (Captain Hook, Mermaid) years ago. Scott and I dressed up as bad babies the first year we were married, and the next year he was the Green Hornet and I was Kato. One year we dressed up as an obnoxious couple that used to hang out in our family circle and that was the best. I even had blue eyes for the deal. I think the last time I dressed up was a few years ago and I was that psycho astronaut lady who wore the diaper. I don't know why I seem to gravitate towards the adult diapers but I may have to incorporate it into this year's costume. My kids are going to be generic superheroes and maybe Bob Marley (Emi is procrastinating and we have a rasta wig already so we'll see)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you create!
I don't know if we will do something on Halloween finally or not, it's not traditional for me but I like the idea a lot :) Costumes, freaky things and candies! Loads of candies!
ReplyDeleteThe detetctive and artist are my favorites. I WAS going to be a burglar (striped shirt, mask, skinny black pants, hat, and moneybag--mostly stuff I have on hand or can dig up somewhere) but I'm not sure I have anywhere to go on Halloween, so it may not be worth the trouble.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good with costumes! I love the artist - I never would have though of that, but it's so simple to do!
ReplyDeleteWe are going to two Halloween parties this weekend - one 'adult' party and one family friendly party. I adore dressing up for Halloween - when else do you get to wear a wig and fake eyelashes a mile long? Love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute costumes! I'm still not sure if I'm even dressing up this year. Bah, I love Halloween, but damnit it's been a busy month!
ReplyDeletei know what you're going to be!!! pinterest spilled the beans ;) can't wait to see it all put together!
